Founded in
1978, Pilgrim has only ever specialised in the development,
supply, implementation and support of law firm business software.
Today that remains our sole occupation and the entire energies
of Pilgrim are dedicated to this.
Originally based in the centre of Edinburgh, today Pilgrim's
head office is in the thriving Leith docklands area, right
by the side of the Scottish Government. Our waterfront offices
provide permanent working areas for the company's development,
support, finance and administration functions.
The remainder of our staff have client-facing roles and are
involved in either sales, project management, training or
consulting activities. In order to provide the most responsive
service levels we can to our clients, these staff are located
in purpose equipped home-offices across the U.K. As you would
expect from a high technology company, we deploy leading edge
communications with our field-based staff in order that they
remain inclusive to the company values and objectives. Voice
Over IP (VoIP), Webex, and Instant Messaging (IM) allow close
working relationships between all employees, regardless of
physical location.
A History of Law Firm Innovation
Pilgrim was one of the first law firm suppliers to evolve
from the visible record computers of the late 1970s and early
1980s to mini-computer technology. Its mini-computer Advocate
® system was recognised as revolutionary. In the mid 1990s
Pilgrim led the market again by the 'ground-up' development
of a native MS SQL Server based application that was the ancestor
of today's LawSoft®. Pilgrim has led the way with browser
interfaces, 'pushed' e-mail business alerts, desktop fee earner
productivity tools and many other features now taken for granted.
