Berryman
Signs Contract with Pilgrim Systems 07 March 2007
Leading regional
law firm Berryman has signed contracts with Pilgrim Systems to install
and implement LawSoft version 6 and Redwood Analytics. The contract,
worth approximately £200,000, will see Berryman switch its operations
to LawSoft in July 2007.
As part of its continued growth strategy Berryman recognises the role
that up-to-date IT can play. In 2006 it decided that a new PMS could
offer the firm significant returns on investment whilst supporting
its drive for higher client service levels and added client value.
Following a review of the Legal IT consultancy market, Peter Owen
from Lights-on Consulting was appointed to lead Berryman through a
thorough business needs analysis and rigorous selection process. Six
potential suppliers were invited to tender and a shortlist of three
was invited to give detailed presentations, after which, following
the necessary due diligence, the contract was awarded to Pilgrim.
Partner in charge of the selection, Patrick Billyeald, explains the
choice of Pilgrim. “The investment in a new PMS is an important
part of a major project to improve our processes and performance across
the business. In selecting a new PMS we wanted two things—software
that could help us take the business forward and a supplier we could
work with to develop innovative new approaches to business opportunities.
“In LawSoft we have found a modern and high powered PMS . It
has inbuilt process automation so tasks such as postings, billings
and client/matter inception can be performed right at the desktop.
“A further major attraction of LawSoft for us is the intuitive
web based interface. This means that every interaction between the
fee earners and LawSoft is simple, whether it’s looking at enquiries,
reviewing documents, processing cases or analysing performance.
“As far as Pilgrim the supplier is concerned we found their
approach extremely refreshing. They seem to have a unique combination
of “wise heads” with “energetic young software talent”,
and they are very willing to take our ideas and turn these into software
features.”
Sales Director for Pilgrim, David Thorpe, comments on the contract.
“We are absolutely thrilled that Berryman has selected Pilgrim
as its partner. This is a far-reaching project encompassing practice
management, client relationship and document management together with
business analysis and intelligence. In Berryman we recognise a forward
thinking firm who are looking for more from the software than a marginal
improvement over what they are currently doing. They want to use the
software for maximum advantage improving their own business processes
and the service levels they provide to their clients. They have some
truly innovative ideas and we are looking forward to working with
them and creating some very interesting software to further drive
business benefit for our users.”
